Intel Core i7-7700K “Kaby Lake” Processor Review

Overclocking
Overclocking on Kaby Lake can be easily achieved much like how it was done on Skylake. All you have to do is up your multiplier and CPU Core voltage accordingly. Intel has make higher overclocks possible with Kaby Lake. We are not going to go into full details here, but after a little tinkering about I was able to achieve a 5.0 GHz overclock at 1.4V VCore.

5.0 GHz seemed to be the thermal limit of our cooling setup. I’m sure you could get more out of this processor on a different cooling setup. 5.0 GHz is quite good though, we were only able to get our Core i7-6700K up to 4.7 GHz on the exact same setup and cooling.

Here are some benchmarks showing the performance difference if you plan to overclock your system.
