Intel 8th Gen Core i5 and Core i7 Processors Detailed

This morning Intel announced the first processors that will be part of their 8th Generation Core Series of processors. Sadly for us these processors were part of the U-Series which will find themselves inside of the notebooks and other smaller devices. But it does look like we have leaked information on the first wave of 8th Generation Core i5 and Core i7 desktop processors.

It does not appear that there will be a socket difference between these processors and “Kaby Lake” processors, so it is very possible that 300-series motherboards could support older “Kaby Lake” and “Skylake” processors, “Coffee Lake” will only work on a 300-series chipset. The retail box renders have been leaked as well. Intel is branding their new integrated graphics “UHD” which could hint at its credentials with hardware-accelerated decoding of new video formats such as 10-bit VP9 at 4K.

What do you guys think of the new boxes?

About 10 years of computer experience. Been messing around with electronics since I was 5, got into computers when I was in highschool, been modding them ever since then. Very interested in how things work and their design.
