Yesterday we talked about HP’s Split X2. HP also announced the Android-based SlateBook X2. HP with its SlateBook is going a step further by introducing the latest offering from NVIDIA, the ‘Tegra4’ in its Android tablet. It is one of the first tablet with Tegra 4 announced by any company.

It features a stunning 10.1-inches 400-nit IPS display with the resolution of 1,920 by 1,200. It comes with a keyboard dock which supports a built-in battery. HP has done a brilliant job here with the dock by including a laptop-style trackpad which supports multitouch gestures. The keyboard also supports a shortcut for Google voice search. The extra built-in battery in the dock will keep the SlateBook running for hours.

The connectivity options are plenty including Wifi, dual USB sockets and SD / microSD readers. Running on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 this tablet weighs about 2.8 pounds in total. The stereo speakers present in the SlateBook are loud enough and the sound quality is great.

With the goodness of NVIDIA Tegra 4 this tablet is a powerhouse. It seems that HP is taking the tablet business seriously and it has a long way to go. This SlateBook is a real beast and it will surely attract a lot of tablet fans. This might be the first step forward in the right direction and HP will try to compete in the tablet market too.

SlateBook x2 is priced at $480 including the dock which is not a bad deal for this kind of tablet with high end specs. It will be available in August.
