PUBG & Fortnite
The Battle Royale genre really took off this year and two of the biggest games in the genre are PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite. For those who do not know what Battle Royale is, it is a last-man standing type of game where you have to be the last surviving person in the game. PUBG is currently the most popular game on Steam right now, and is based on modern weapons and vehicles. Fortnite is a little different with a more cartoon feel and has building elements in the game, which make for different strategy and gameplay. Both are totally worth checking out.
Overwatch
Overwatch was released back in 2016 and is still one of the most popular games out there. It is a competitive game where there are two teams of six heroes. Each hero has a different class (Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support). In the game you need to work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time. So with your team you’ll need to choose your heroes wisely and pick a team strategy that will work. Overwatch is extremely competitive, so if you are looking for intense eSports action this could be the game for you.
Star Wars Battlefront II
While there was a ton of drama surrounding the build up and release of Star Wars Battlefront II, we still think it is a great game you should check out. Just like Star Wars movies, if you are a true fan you want that Star Wars experience, so you have it in Battlefront II, and there is even a single-player mode this time around. With Star Wars The Last Jedi coming out recently it is great to be able to come home and continue the story.
Assassins Creed Origins
If you listen to our Podcast I’ve said time and time again that Assassin’s Creed games have the best single-player stories, and that still holds true. Assassins Creed Origins set in Egypt during the Ptolemaic period (48 BC) and recounts the secret fictional history of real-world events. The story explores the origins of the centuries-long conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins, who fight for peace by promoting liberty, and The Order of the Ancients—forerunners to the Templar Order—who desire peace through the forced imposition of order. If you are looking for a great story and offline experience this game could be for you.
