Gigabyte Value-Oriented LGA1150 Motherboards Detailed

We have detailed many of Gigabyte’s upcoming Haswell motherboards. These have included the G1.Sniper 5 and G1.Sniper M5, Z87X-OC and the Z87X-UD4H. Those were the more high-end motherboards, but what about the value boards? Today we are detailing Gigabyte’s sub-$150 boards based on the Z87 Express and B85 Express chipsets. The boards we will be looking at are the Z87-UD3H, Z87-D3HP and the B85M-D3H.

Gigabyte Z87-UD3H

Gigabyte Z87-UD3H

The Z87-UD3H has the best feature set out of all of the boards listed above. Unlike the Z87X-UD4H it features a combination of blue, silver and pink highlights on the heatsinks. It also has a plain black PCB. The board features an 8-phase VRM, four DDR3 DIMM slots, two PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, three PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots and a legacy PCI slot. For storage you have eight internal SATA 6GB/s ports, and two eSATA 6GB/s ports. Other connectivity includes DVI, VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, ten USB 3.0 (six rear, four headers), optical SPDIF, 8-channel audio and Gigabit ethernet.

The Z87-D3HP is the cheapest Z87 motherboard offered by Gigabyte. It features a 4-phase VRM, four DDR3 DIMM slots, a single PCI express 3.0 x16 slot, a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, two PCI Express 2.0 x1 slots and two legacy PCI slots. For storage you have six SATA 6GB/s ports. Other connections include eight USB 3.0 (six rear, two header), DVI, VGA, HDMI, HD audio with SPDIF and Gigabit Ethernet.

The B85M-D3H is based on Intel’s B85 chipset, which gives you most of the platform feature-set including small business advantage, but does exclude CPU overclocking features. As you can guess by the photo above the motherboard is a mirco-ATX board. It features a 4-phase VRM, four DDR3 DIMMs, a single PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot, a PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot and two legacy PCI slots. For storage you have four SATA 6GB/s ports and two SATA 3GB/s ports. Other connections include four USB 3.0 ports (two rear, two header), DVI, VGA, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and 8-channel audio.
