Gigabyte BRIX BSi7-6500 Compact PC Kit Review

Installation & Setup
So this is a PC Kit, not a full fledged PC, so we need to install a few things before we can get going. The first thing we need to install is our M.2 solid state drive, which happens to be the Mushkin Atlas 250GB. Next is our memory which is we have a Samsung 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 kit.

Both the memory and the SSD easily go in. If you’ve ever installed laptop memory it is the exact same here and the M.2 installation is just like any other M/2 installation you would do.

With everything loaded up you can put the bottom back on the BRIX and plug it in. Again, since this is a kit you will need to install your own operating system. I went ahead and installed Windows 10 from a flash drive and I did not have a single issue. You can go into the BIOS if you want, but there really is not much you can change. After getting into Windows and downloading the latest drivers and I was good to go. Opening up CPU-Z we can see what all we are running.

As you can see we have the Core i7-6500U processor, our 8GB of DDR3 running at 1600 MHz with timings of 11-11-11-28, the Intel HD Graphics 520 having a dedicated 1024 MB of memory, and for those wondering the model motherboard in this unit is the MKLP7AP-00.

Now let’s get into testing.
