The board will support Intel’s 4th generation Core “Haswell” processors. This is a normal-sized ATX motherboard and since the chipset does not support CPU overclocking Gigabyte has gone with a simple 4+1 phase VRM. The board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors.

Expansion slots include two PCI Express x16 slots, but only one is wired to the CPU providing PCI-Express 3.0 x16 speeds. The other slot is electrical gen 2.0 x4 and is wired to the B85 PCH. There is also two PCI-Express x16 slots and two legacy PCI. For storage you have four SATA 6GB/s ports and two SATA 3GB/s ports. The audio solution is based off the Realtek ALC898 (110 dBA SNR), ground layer isolation, Nichicon audiophile-grade electrolytic capacitors on the AMP stage, and a removable OPAMP chip. There is no on-board Killer NIC, but instead an Intel LAN chip.
