First Ryzen ThreadRipper 1950X Benchmarks Have Been Published

Want to know how Ryzen ThreadRipper performs? Well the first benchmarks have been released from LTT in a video review of a Ryzen ThreadRipper powered Alienware Area-51 system. So let’s see what Ryzen ThreadRipper can do!

Before we get into results lets take a look at the specifications of all four systems that LTT used.

As you can see we have AMD X399 and X370 systems, as well as Intel X299 and Z270 systems. This pretty much gives us an overall view of both mainstream and HEDT performance from both AMD and Intel. All four systems have the exact same graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti), 3200 MHz DDR4 memory (except for the ThreadRipper system it had slower 2666 MHz memory, but everything else was the same. The CPUs were the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X, the Ryzen 7 1800X, Core i9 7900X and Core i7 7700K.

Now let’s get into the results!

So looking at these results we can see that Intel still beats out AMD in the gaming results, but when it comes to multi-threaded work loads ThreadRipper 1950X does indeed beat Intel’s Core i7-7900X. Remember both of these parts are priced at $999 so it really comes down to what you are going to be doing and which platform works better for your needs. We already talked about the NVMe RAID boot issue on ThreadRipper so that is something you might want to think about as well.
