EVGA X79 Dark Motherboard Launched

EVGA has just launched its flagship socket LGA2011 motherboard, the X79 Dark (model: 150-SE-E789-KR). This motherboard is basically designed for open-air benches which require a case that can accommodate E-ATX motherboards measuring 304.8×263.5mm (LxW). It extracts power from a combination of 24-pin ATX input, two 8pin EPS inputs and a 6-pin PCIe input to keep the power steady for add-on cards. Surplus features are found on the motherboard for CPU and VGA over clockers. EVGA set out a brand new UEFI setup program interface in addition to onboard controls, EVBot support, consolidated voltage measurement points which first appeared with some of its finest Z-87 based motherboards.

It also features a 12 layer PCB. To supply power to CPU it uses 12+2 phase VRM, a 4 phase VRM to provide power to memory, also includes power-gating to individual PCI-Express slots. Putting spotlight to its development front, you get five PCI-Express 3.0×16 slots, out of which two are electrical x16 –capable and rest five electrical x8-capable depending on how slots are occupied. For storage connectivity purpose it packs six SATA 6 Gb/s internal ports , out of which two belong to X79 PCH, four from intermediary controllers, four SATA 3 Gb/s ports from PCH and two eSATA 3 Gb/s. While the remainder connectivity includes 8-channel HD audio, two Gigabyte Ethernet interfaces, (both being chauffeured by Intel made controllers), six USB 3.0 ports with four positioned on the rear panel and two on the header. It also includes Bluetooth and numerous USB 2.0/1.1 ports.
