Similar to other extremely small form factor PCs we currently have available to us, like the Raspberry PI or the huge array of NUCs, the Endless Mini is a fully functional PC in an extremely small spherical form.
What sets the Endless Mini apart from others is its affordability as well as an extremely unique Linux based OS. $79 dollars gets you an Amlogic S805 Quad Core processor running at 1.50 GHz and equipped with a Mali-450 GPU. Rounding out the internal hardware is 1 GB of ram and 24GB of solid state storage. For ports and connections you will find HDMI, Composite, three USB 2.0, a 3.5mm jack for sound and a Gigabit Ethernet connection.
For an additional $20 you get 2 GB of ram, 32 GB of storage, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.
But really it isn’t the hardware that should get you excited about the Endless Mini. The custom Linux OS: Endless OS, is built from the shell up to be super compatible with the hardware used and provide a responsive experience for the user. Included with each unit is a full suit of apps for standard uses, think open office, and an encyclopedia from Wikipedia and Khan Academy to give users a solid base to start from.
