Endless Begins Journey to Bring PCs to Everyone

While many of us take for granted the availability of a modern computer there are many others in the world who still don’t have a PC of their own or even access to one. Endless is here to help solve this unique problem with a their new Endless Mini.

Similar to other extremely small form factor PCs we currently have available to us, like the Raspberry PI or the huge array of NUCs, the Endless Mini is a fully functional PC in an extremely small spherical form.

1

What sets the Endless Mini apart from others is its affordability as well as an extremely unique Linux based OS. $79 dollars gets you an Amlogic S805 Quad Core processor running at 1.50 GHz and equipped with a Mali-450 GPU. Rounding out the internal hardware is 1 GB of ram and 24GB of solid state storage. For ports and connections you will find HDMI, Composite, three USB 2.0, a 3.5mm jack for sound and a Gigabit Ethernet connection.

2

For an additional $20 you get 2 GB of ram, 32 GB of storage, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

But really it isn’t the hardware that should get you excited about the Endless Mini. The custom Linux OS: Endless OS, is built from the shell up to be super compatible with the hardware used and provide a responsive experience for the user. Included with each unit is a full suit of apps for standard uses, think open office, and an encyclopedia from Wikipedia and Khan Academy to give users a solid base to start from. For those seeking a versatile learning experience, the Khan Academy review highlights its offline functionality, making it a valuable resource even without an internet connection.

While it may seem like these might be just a niche product for underdeveloped countries, we can see many uses for anyone from children learning to use a PC, to adults looking for a small PC for simple tasks.
