Deepcool Assassin II CPU Cooler Review

Deepcool’s original Assassin CPU cooler came out in 2013 and one one of the largest and best performing coolers available. 2014 brought in the Lucifer, which we tested and it proved to be one of the best coolers available at the time. It is now 2015 and Deepcool has released the successor to the original Assassin, the Assassin II. This massive air cooler features a dual tower design, two cooling fans (140mm and 120mm), 8 nickel-plated copper heatpipes and its own 4-port fan hub. Can this cooler reign supreme like Deepcool’s previous two coolers? Read on as we find out…

Special thanks to Deepcool for providing us with the Assassin II CPU Cooler to review.

Packaging
The Deepcool Assassin comes in a rather large retail box. There is no photo of the unit on the box, rather a GamerStorm logo. The front of the box does let us know it is a CPU cooler though.

On the side of the box some of the main features are listed.

On the back of the box we have a full listing of specifications as well as supported sockets. This cooler supports all modern sockets on both the Intel and AMD side.

Opening the box up and getting everything out we have the Deepcool Assassin II CPU cooler, 4 port fan hub, thermal paste, mounting hardware for both Intel and AMD, a GamerStorm case badge, and a user’s manual.

One thing that I did want to point out is that the base of the cooler was not protected all that much. Upon further inspection the cooler base was actually scratched. This could have been avoided by simply having the typical plastic covering on the base that we normally see on CPU coolers when they arrive.

The included fan hub allows you to plug in and control up to 4 PWM fans. It also comes with double-sided tape so you can mount it in your system.
