D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Gaming Router Review

First Looks

The D-Link DGL-4500 wireless router is a sleek black unit with a slightly raised LCD panel on the top. The GameLounge logo is proudly displayed on the top with a badge and on the front on the bezel with a power icon. A pair of buttons adorn the top, as well, foreseeably used to navigate the LCD menus.

The rear has four gigabit Ethernet ports and a single gigabit port for the Internet connection. Having a gigabit LAN is always useful, especially when you’ve got some [[network-attached storage] link to a NAS review or two?] for clients to access. Gigabit WAN may be useful for high speed Internet connections from fiber or cable, or perhaps a dorm room with a gigabit connection to a campus network. There’s also a USB port to set up a network printer or USB mass storage devices for simple network storage.

The bottom has the router admin panel defaults as well as an additional diagram showing what the ports on the back are for. The sides are vented for airflow.
