Wi-Fi range extenders can provide wireless access in dead zones, but they are often difficult to configure and setup for proper placement. D-Link wants to provide fast and reliable access throughout an entire home with their Unified Home Wi-Fi Network Kit. The kit comes with an AC4300 router, and an AC1300 range extender that are built to work with each other out of the box with very little setup.
Unified Home Wi-Fi Network Kit’s main component is D-Link DIR-891L, a tri-band AC4300 (1733Mbps on both 5GHz bands, 800Mbps on 2.4GHz) with MU-MIMO. Its range extender is capable of AC1300 speeds between two bands (5GHz – 867Mbps, 2.4GHz – 450Mbps), and is equipped with signal strength indicators on the top, so it is easy to find the best placement location.
The entire system has Adaptive Roaming Technology enabling key features like a unified SSID across each device. No longer is ‘MyNetwork’ and ‘MyNetwork-EXT’ necessary, Unified Home Wi-Fi Network Kit is smart enough to switch a wireless client to the appropriate device. It will also bump clients seamlessly from one band to another. For instance, if the 5GHz band is becoming crowded with traffic, it’ll bump a client to 2.4GHz where more bandwidth might be available, or vice-versa.
