Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid-State Drive Review

Final Thoughts
Corsair has really pulled out all of the stops with this drive.  It really earns the its “GT” name.  It is the single fastest drive we have tested in ATTO with a read score of 557MB/s.  Also it performs right up to the advertised 85K IOPS, in our testing we scored 84K IOPS, which is very close.  This drive performed right up to specifications in all aspects read, write and IOPS.  We cannot say that about many of the products we review here at ThinkComputers.

I like that Corsair is still including the 2.5-inch adapter.  Other SSD manufacturers have gone away from this as all new cases are SSD compatible, but many people still have older cases that are not SSD compatible.  Also Corsair has really made this SSD stand out with the bright red casing.

This is a SandForce-based drive so you do get the added features that the new SandForce SF-2200 controller offers. The drive will do real-time loss-less compression. This is why there is no need for a cache chip, but also means less writes to the data cells. RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) is a term we have heard a lot with these new drives. So on top of ECC for data protection RAISE adds another level of security. This drive also supports TRIM as almost all solid state drives do these days.

Corsair is once again putting themselves at the top of another product category with this drive.  Right now you can purchase the 120GB version of this drive for $224.99 at my favorite online retailer.  It is also available in 60, 90, 180 and 240GB versions.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid-State Drive a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor’s Choice Award!
