Corsair Crystal Series 280X RGB Case Review

Corsair Crystal Series 280X RGB Case Overview
Getting a first look at the Crystal Series 280X RGB Case we can see that we received the black version of the case, it also comes in white as well. The case is a smaller case, but more like a fat mid tower rather than a cube case. Picking up the case for the first time it does have some weight to it, and it feels like a solid case, which should speak to the quality.

Starting at the front of the case we have a two part design with a tempered glass panel on the left side and a clean section on the right side. This tempered glass panel as affixed to the front of the case and cannot be removed. I actually like this design as have thumbscrews on the front of the case really destroys the sleek look. Behind the tempered glass sits a 120 mm Corsair LL120 RGB fan.

Unlike some of the newer cases with tempered glass panels your front fans will get some ventilation as the tempered glass panel sits off the front of the case a little and there is ventilation inlets on the left side of the front bezel.

Moving up to the top of the case at the right you’ll find your front panel connections and buttons. These include two USB 3.0 ports, HD audio connections, a large power button, and smaller reset button.

Looking at the top of the case we also have that two part design with the left side of the case having a tempered glass panel that sits over a ventilated section. This panel is also lifted off the case to give you some ventilation up there. The panel is easily removed by 4 thumbscrews to reveal another Corsair LL120 RGB fan. You can either fit two 120 / 140 mm fans here or watercooling radiators up to 280 mm.

Moving over to the main side panel of the case we have a third tempered glass panel. This panel reveals the entire inside of your system. It is held into place by four thumbscrews. From this side angle you can also see the inlet vents on the front of the case and how the top panel sits off if the case to allow for ventilation.

The opposite side panel of the case is plan, but does have a ventilated section towards the bottom. This ventilated section has a magnetic removable filter. There is room here for a single 120 / 140 mm fan to keep the back section of the case cool.

If we come to the back of the case we can see how Corsair has designed this case as a dual chamber case. Being a Micro-ATX case we have four expansion slots and a small ventilated section on the main side. On the rear side you’ll find a power supply mount towards the bottom and a rear hard drive cage which we will check out once we get inside.

Flipping the case over to the bottom we have four feet that will lift it off the ground for proper airflow. We find another large ventilated section down here that does have a magnetic filter covering it. The bottom will support 120 / 140 mm fans.
