Corsair Carbide Series 400C Case Review

A Look Inside
Of the coolest things about this case is that the main side panel has a simple latch that allows you to easily pull it open. The side panel can also be lifted off the case so it is out of the way when you are doing your installation.

Taking a look inside you can see we have a more compact case here. That is because there are no 5.25-inch optical drive bays in this case. Even though it is more compact you still have room inside for motherboards up to E-ATX. We can also see a very large CPU cutout and multiple cable routing holes.

Starting at the front of the case there is a 140 mm intake fan, that makes a total of two included fans. At the front of the case you can fit three 120 mm fans or two 140 mm fans as well as water cooling radiators up to 360 mm.

You can actually remove the front of the case, but you need to get inside the case to unlock the tabs. With the front of the case off we find a very large fan filter and we can see the mounting points for fans and water cooling.

There is a power supply cover on this case. It will cover up your power supply as well as the hard drive cage. The cover is made of plastic instead of steel like the rest of the case. This cover actually has to be removed to install your power supply.

Moving towards the back we can see our expansion slots which do have thumbscrews.

At the top of the case we can see the mounting points for fans and radiators, but again as I mentioned your water cooling setup has the possibility to overhang your motherboard so you might run into some clearance issues.

Taking the back side panel off the case we can see how the rest of the case is laid out. There are three SSD mounts on the backside of the motherboard tray. These plastic mounts will allow you to have tool-free installation of your SSD drives. We can also spot multiple tie-down points for the included zip ties.

At the bottom of the case is a hard drive cage that has two hard drive trays installed. These plastic trays support both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives.
