Intel is mapping on launching its Core i7-4771 in this fall to take its premium line to 2014 when it plans to launch a refresh of Haswell. VR-Zone managed to get their hands on a copy of the chip early to run some benchmarks.
The Core i7-4771 is a Haswell based processor that connects with the LGA 1150 pin. It’s clocked at 3.5GHz and with the help of turbo boost it can hit 3.9 GHz. Other than this, it has an 8MB of cache, a 22nm Lithography and an 84W TDP to top off the rest of the specifications for the Core i7 4771. It will come in to put back the Core i7 4770 which runs at 3.4GHz base clock and 3.9GHz turbo clock.
Unfortunately, it still lacks the unlocked multiplier, but it has Virtualization Technology support which is of great importance to some users.
VR-Zone have benchmarked the new Intel CPU and as you would have thought it performs exactly like a Core i7 4770K apart from the over clocking potential. The Core i7 4771 will probably replace the Core i7 4770 in the years to come and stand side by side with the Core i7 4770K as the leading Haswell Core i7 processors. Wait for a slightly higher price premium of round about $10 compared to the current Core i7 4770.
