Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 5 RGB Case Review

A Look Inside
Getting inside the MasterBox Lite 5 RGB is quite easy, just remove the two large thumbscrews on the tempered glass side panel and remove it. Taking a look inside you can see we have a pretty basic layout with two main compartments. The top compartment will house your motherboard, CPU, graphics card, memory, and storage, while the bottom houses your power supply and more storage.

Starting at the front of the case we can see our three pre-installed 120 mm RGB fans. If you wanted to go the water cooling route this case supports radiators up to 360 mm that are 50 mm thick or less. Also towards the front is a single 2.5-inch SSD tray. The tray is easily removed with a single thumbscrew.

There is a power supply cover that separates the top of the case from the bottom. It pretty much extends the entire length of the case except for the cutout at the front that is there to support thick fans and radiators. There are also two mounting points for the SSD tray that we previously mentioned, but there are no trays installed here. You’ll have to buy those separately. Actually there is a total of four SSD tray mounting spots, but there is only 1 tray included with the case, which is a little disappointing.

This case supports Mini-ITX, Micro ATX, and ATX motherboards. Looking at the motherboard tray we can see a very large CPU cutout as well as a few cable routing holes.

Taking the opposite side panel off the case we can see how everything else is setup. One thing that is very evident on the backside of the motherboard tray is that there is plenty of cable tie-down points. This will make organizing cables much easier. As far as space behind the motherboard tray there is a little under an inch of space. There is actually more space on the opposite side.

The bottom of the case will of course house your power supply, but there is also a hard drive cage down there will two hard drive trays. These trays support both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives. It would have been nice if this cage would have been able to be removed or moved to the left to make room for longer power supplies.
