Cooler Master HAF XM Mid Tower Case Review

HAF XM Overview
The HAF XM is one of the larger mid tower cases that we have reviewed.  The actual dimensions are 252.0(W) x 530.5(H) x 579.0(D)mm and it weighs in at about 23 lbs.  Currently it is only available in black, no word yet if there will be any other colors released.  The case itself looks almost identical to the HAF X, except for a few little things and of course its size.

Starting at the front of the case it has a very solid design.  You will find your front panel connections at the top of the case.  You have two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports and headphone and microphone ports.  Moving down there are three 5.25-inch drive bays.  Each of the drive bay covers have a mesh design.

Below the 5.25-inch bays are two X-Docks that easily pull out for hot-swapping your hard drives.  Each X-Dock supports both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives.

The bottom section of the front part of the case has a mesh design and behind the mesh is a large 200mm red LED intake fan.  The top of the case is the same way, there is a large mesh section with a 200mm top mounted fan.

Towards the front of the top of the case there is a section where you can put your keys, smartphone, MP3 player or small gadgets.  Also you will find your power button, reset button and fan control button.  On the back part of the case there is a thumbscrew that you can remove that allows you to take off the top part of the case.  Now you can take a look at the 200mm fan and you can see you can fit another 200mm fan on the top of the case.

The side panel of the case features a latch side panel that will make getting inside your case very easy.  You can actually see how easy it is by checking out this video.  Also on the side panel you have a large ventilated section that can support one large 200mm fan or two 140mm fans.

On the back of the case you have 3 water-cooling holes towards the top and a 140mm exhaust fan.  So that gives you two 200mm fans and the 140mm fan included with the case.  Below the exhaust fan you have 8 expansion slots plus an extra one of the side for a fan controller or other similar device.  Just like most of the cases we review the HAF XM uses thumbscrews on both of the side panels.
