Comcast 2Gbps Fiber Service is $300 Per Month

Comcast first announced its 2Gbps symmetrical Gigabit Pro Fiber Service for the Atlanta market in April and soon began expanding into the San Francisco Bay Area, Chattanooga, and parts of Colorado and Oregon. Up until now the cost of the service was unknown, but Comcast has added a landing page for the service on their website which lets us know the service will be $299.95 per month!

On top of the $299.95 per month customers will also face installation costs of up to $500 and up to a $500 activation fee. Wait there is more…you will also have to purchase your own equipment as well as it does not appear to be included in the installation costs. And then once you do sign up installation can take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks and you need to live within a third of a mile from Comcast’s fiber network to receive residential service. Now it has been reported that early birds signing up will receive “promotional pricing” of $159.99 a month, which is not that bad.

Top compare Google’s Fiber service costs only $70 per month for the internet-only package (1Gbps speeds) and the internet + TV package costs $120 per month. Google does have a one-time construction fee, but that is waived if you sign up for a one-year contract.

Between Google’s Fiber and Comcast’s Gigabit Pro which one would you choose?
