CES 2017 – ROCCAT’s First Wireless Mouse and New Owl-Eye Sensor

Owl-Eye, that’s the name of ROCCAT’s new sensor in their 2017 mouse lineup. It is a 12,000dpi sensor that was developed in conjunction with PixArt, and its sensitivity can be adjusted in 100dpi increments from 100 – 12,000. ROCCAT’s new mice consist of Kone Pure 2017, Kone EMP, and Leadr. Most people are familiar with ROCCAT’s Kone line, but Leadr is ROCCAT’s first wireless mouse.

Kone Pure 2017 is the same great mouse that Kone Pure is, except ROCCAT has upgraded the sensor to Owl-Eye. Kone EMP is based on XTD, but EMP uses Owl-Eye sensor and ROCCAT removed the front middle mouse button on EMP that was found on XTD.

Leadr looks to be an excellent entry as ROCCAT’s first wireless mouse. It has a rubberized vertical charging pad that also doubles as the wireless 2.4GHz transmitter. Along the bottom of the charging pad, the ROCCAT logo is illuminated and there are LEDs that show if Leadr is charging and its battery status. Leadr’s built-in rechargeable battery provides about 20 hours of continuous gaming. Although, if the mouse happens to die while you’re in mid-game, you can disconnect the Micro USB cable from the charging pad and directly plug it into the bottom of the mouse. Leadr will start to charge and also shoot all communication directly over the wired USB connection instead of wireless.

Kone Pure 2017 and Kone EMP will both be launching soon for $69 and $79 respectively.

Leadr will launch around April 2017 and pricing has not been determined.
