CES 2009: Antec

Power Supplies

One thing we really know Antec for is making great power supplies. This year they showed us a very unique power supply, the CP-850. The CP-850 does not have the normal power supply dimensions so it will only fit in specific Antec cases, the Twelve Hundred, P183 and P193. By breaking the mold of standardized power supply size restrictions, the CP-850 design is able to provide an excellent price-to-performance ratio. The CP-850 is cooled by a 120mm PWM fan and features a dual PCB.

Antec has updated their TruePower series with the TruePower New. The TruePower New is basically an updated version of the old TruePower series with DC to DC voltage regulator modules, a 120mm PWM fan, and an 80 PLUS Bronze certification. This power supply will come in 4 models, the TP-550, TP-650, TP-750, and TP750 Blue, which has the blue LED fan.

The TruePower Quattro has got another updated with the TruePower Quattro 1200W. Just like previous versions the 1200W is Nvidia SLI ready, has 6 +12V output circuits, DC to DC voltage regulator modules, and is 80 PLUS Silver certified. Antec has changed things up and has gone with a red stripe instead of the white that we saw on the 1000W version.

Finally rounding out the power supplies is the EarthWatts EA-750. This is one of the most environmentally friendly power supplies available being 80 PLUS certified. That means that the EA-750 consumes up to 33% less energy than an equivalent power supply with absolutely no reduction in performance. The EarthWatts also features a universal input so it will work on any power grid on the planet.
