Braven BRV-X Bluetooth Speaker Review

Final Thoughts
So is Braven’s BRV-X the perfect Bluetooth speaker for summer? We believe the answer is yes! The biggest thing about going on your summer adventures with your electronics is if they will survive the elements and the accidental drop or spill. The BRV-X is ready for all of that with its IPX7 waterproof rating. So if it starting raining, you are on a boat, or someone accidentally spills something on the BRV-X you have nothing to worry about. The BRV-X can also withstand a pretty heavy beating with its rugged design.

Besides being able to stand up to accidents, weather and the elements the BRV-X actually is one of the best sounding portable Bluetooth speakers we have tested. The sound is extremely clear and crisp and a quite loud as well. One thing I really liked was that the sound does not distort as you turn the volume up higher. There are also two different audio modes (indoor & outdoor). Indoor is clearer sound, while outdoor allows for the sound to travel further.

The BRV-X is equipped with a 5200 mAh battery and has a USB charging port on the back that allows you to charge different devices. This is a nice little extra as a Bluetooth speaker is sort of useless if you don’t have a charged device to actually play your music. There are LED indicators on the back of the unit that will let you know how much battery is left and charging will be disabled if you go below a certain level.

The only real downfall that I can find with the BRV-X is that it uses a wall-mount charger for charging, not a USB charger. With all of our devices using USB charging I am sure to always have a USB charger and cable around. Now I have to remember to bring the specific charger for the BRV-X with me at all times.

The BRV-X is currently selling at our favorite online retailer for only $128, which we feel is a great value for what you are getting! Overall ThinkComputers gives the Braven BRV-X Bluetooth Speaker a 9 out of 10 score.
