We’ve seen many motherboard manufacturers come out with boards that are specifically made for mining, but it looks like ASUS is taking the cake with their new B250 Mining Expert board, which has 19 PCI-Express slots and 3 24-pin ATX power connections.
Being a B250 motherboard it supports Intel’s 6th and 7th generation CPUs and up to 32GB of DDR4 memory in dual-channel mode. For the expansion slots you have a single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot and 18 PCI-Express 3.0 x1 slots, which is perfect for Cryptocurrency mining.
The way the 24-pin ATX power connectors work is that the top connector will power the top cluster of slots, the middle will cover the middle cluster, and the bottom will power the bottom cluster. There are also molex connectors by each cluster for extra power.
Even with the latest GPU drives from both AMD and NVIDIA the board will support up to eight GPUs in multi-GPU mode. AMD has teased a driver for later this year that will support 19 graphics cards later this year, but until then you can run eight NVIDIA cards and eight NVIDIA cards at the same time! This has to be the ultimate mining board!
