ASUS’s TUF (The Ultimate Force) motherboards are known for their unique cooling technologies like the TUF Thermal Armor and the TUF Thermal radar. ASUS’s upcoming Z87 TUF series of motherboards will be comprised of two models the Z87 Sabertooth and the Z87 Gryphon. Read on as we have all of the details on these two new boards. If you missed it ASUS also announced their Republic of Gamers Z87 boards today as well.
ASUS Z87 Sabertooth
The Z87 Sabertooth is the flagship of the TUF Series. It features the 3rd Generation of ASUS’s TUF Thermal Armor which we have seen on previous ASUS Sabertooth motherboards. The TUF thermal armor uses a single fan that pushes cool air to the electrical components. As far as expansion slots go you have three PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots and three PCI Express 3.0 x1 slots. Storage includes six SATA 3 ports and two SATA 3 3GB/s ports. Other connectivity includes eight USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, 8-channel audio and Gigabit Ethernet.
ASUS Z87 Gryphon
The Z87 Gryphon is the first micro-ATX board in the TUF Series. This board will come with optional thermal armor that can be easily installed for better cooling performance. The board features an 8 phase VRM as well as two PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, a single PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot and a PCI Express 3.0 x1 slot. There are six SATA 6GB/s ports, four USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 8-channel audio, HDMI and DVI.
