ASUS X79 Deluxe Motherboard For Ivy Bridge-E Unveiled

ASUS’s latest upcoming X79 motherboard has been unveiled, it is the X79 Deluxe. It will feature improved components and support for the upcoming Intel Ivy Bridge-E processors. Ivy Bridge-E processors are backwards compatible with all socket 2011 motherboards via a BIOS update, but that does not mean companies will not come out with new boards. We have already seen the X79 Dark motherboard from EVGA.

ASUS X79 Deluxe Motherboard

The X79 Deluxe will be an update for the P9X79 Deluxe that was launched last year. As you can see from the photos the X79 Deluxe will have a black and gold color scheme, which will match ASUS’s Z87 Legacy lineup of motherboards. Ivy Bridge-E will have some new addition like the adoption of PCI-Express 3.0, native SATA 6GB/s and the new solid state drive overclocking tools.

The X79 Deluxe will support both Ivy Bridge-E and Sandy Bridge-E processors. There are 8 DIMM slots with support for up to 128 GB of DDR3 memory with rated speeds of 1866 MHz and 2400 MHz OC. The board will have ASUS’s DIGI+VRM with the latest Dual Intelligent Processors 4 design. Power to the board is provided through a single 24pin ATX power connection and 8pin CPU power connection. The VRM and PCH and covered by large heatsinks which are connected by heatpipes.

As far as storage goes you have an astounding 12 SATA 6GB/s ports with the SSD caching feature. Expansion slots include four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 and two PCI-Express 3.0 x1. So you will have both CrossFireX and SLI ability here. Other ASUS features of the board include ASUS Wi-FI Go, USB BIOS Flashback and USB 3.0 Boost. It also looks like you have power and reset buttons right on the board and a debug LED display.

The rear I/O of the board includes four USB 2.0 ports, six USB 3.0 ports, two eSATA ports, Gigabit Ethernet, audio and a BIOS flashback button. There is no word yet on pricing or availability of the X79 Deluxe, but we do expect to find out soon as we are getting closer and closer to the launch of Ivy Bridge-E!
