The BIOS
This is the first time I’ve looked a BIOS for an ASUS board in a while. ASUS uses an American Megatrends BIOS. When you first go in to the BIOS you are brought in to the Extreme Tweaker menu, which we will get in to on the next page. If you move over to the main screen you have the system date and time and language. On this screen is you also have your storage configuation, AHCI configuration, and system information.
In the advanced tab is where you can configure most of your onboard devices. Everything here is pretty much self-explanatory.
Moving down to the LED control you can actually control the LED’s on the board. Going over to the power tab you can setup the suspend mode and configure the ACPI and APM modes.
The hardware monitor allows you to monitor voltages, temperatures and fan speed all within the BIOS. You can also setup fan speed control for the best cooling for your system.
The boot settings are what you might expect. You can set your boot device priority, get a list of attached drives and change some other settings like enabling quick boot.
Under the tools tab you have 5 options. EZ Flash 2 allows you to flash your BIOS with an easy to use GUI interface. OC Profile let’s you load configurations from up to 8 different saved profiles. The Go Button is a profile that is to be used when you recover from a failed overclock where the system will not post. BIOS flashback allows you to switch back to a previous BIOS. Drive Xpert allows you to setup RAID.
