ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II Detailed

ASUS has unveiled its brand new GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC graphics card. It features a non-reference PCB, a new third generation DirectCU II cooler and it is of course overclocked. The factory overclock is set at 889 MHz core and 941 MHz GPU boost compared to NVIDIA’s reference speeds of 863 MHz and 900 MHz.

The PCB makes use of a 10-phase VRM, which is tuned to offer a 30% higher voltage threshold, much better electrical noise suppression (159 mV vs. 239 mV) and an array of tantalum capacitors.

The GTX 780 DirtectCU II features a new third generation DirectCU II cooler. It uses a CoolTech fan that is a cross between lateral-flow and top-flow fans, which will ensure greater sweep. The cooler uses this fan in combination with a normal top-flow fan at the rear. Under the shroud and fans is an aluminum fin-stack heatsink which has four 8mm thick and a central 10mm thick copper heatpipes that make direct contact with the GPU.
