ASUS Announces GeForce GTX 780 6GB STRIX Edition

ASUS is now joining EVGA, Palit and Gainward by offering a 6 GB version of the GeForce GTX 780. Normally we would expect a card like this to be part of ASUS’s Republic of Gamers or DirectCU II lines, but ASUS has actually launched a new brand called STRIX.

One of the cool features of this card is what ASUS is calling “zero noise emission”, which means the fans are not spinning when the card is not in use (gaming). I really hope we see more manufactures adopt this technology.

The card makes use of a dual slot cooler, which is most likely some type of DirectCU variant. The styling of the shroud is very attractive and there is a STRIX logo on the side, which will show if you have a side panel window on your case. The card will use a custom PCB as well, but we do not know much more than that.

ASUS did say this on their Facebook page: “Say hello to ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 780 6GB. Featuring our new 0dB Fan feature. Meaning that the card will stop its fans completely when idle and during light GPU load. More info will follow soon.”
