ASRock X99 Extreme 6 and X99 Extreme 4 Motherboards Spotted

It looks like everyone is showing off their X99 motherboards at Computex! ASRock was not only showing just one board, but two boards actually and even revealed which board they were, which are the X99 Extreme 6 and the X99 Extreme 4.

Both of these motherboards will feature the X99 chipset which is made for Intel’s upcoming Haswell-E high-end desktop (HEDT) platform. All X99 motherboards will feature the LGA 2011-3 socket and DDR4 memory support.

The ASRock X99 Extreme 6 will be ASRock’s high-end X99 offering, the board will fall just below the X99 Extreme 9, which is expected to come later. The board will feature a 12-phase super alloy power design. Power to the board comes by way of a 24-pin ATX power connector and a 8-pin EPS connector. The Super Alloy design makes use of 50G Aluminum Alloy heatsinks, Premium Alloy Chokes, Dual-Stack MOSFETs, and Japanese made high-quality conductive polymer capacitors.

Expansion slots on the board include three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 and two PCI-Express 3.0 x1 slots. For storage you have 10 SATA 6GB/s ports, a single SATA Express port, M.2 and two USB 3.0 headers. It looks like there is a debug LED screen along with power and reset buttons towards the bottom of the board.

This board will also feature a 12-phase super alloy power design and get power from a 24-pin ATX power connection and an 8pin EPS connector. The Super Alloy design makes use of 50G Aluminum Alloy heatsinks, Premium Alloy Chokes, Dual-Stack MOSFETs, and Japanese made high-quality conductive polymer capacitors.

Expansion slots include three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot and one PCI-Express 3.0 x1 slot. Storage will include 10 SATA 6GB/s ports and two USB 3.0 headers. It looks like the debug LED and power and reset buttons are no on this board.

We can expect to see more details on X99 motherboards later this year as it gets closer to Intel’s Haswell-E launch. Expect prices of X99 motherboards to be in the $299-399 range.
