ASRock Shows Two Haswell Motherboards at CeBIT

Gigabyte showed quite a few Z87 motherboards at CeBIT already and now it is ASRock’s turn. ASRock is showing two Haswell-ready LGA 1150 motherboards at CeBIT. The first is based off the Z87 chipset and is the Z87-Extreme6. The second is based off the B85 chipset and is simply called B85M.

The Z87-Extreme6 will most likely be ASRock’s flagship and has 10 phase VRM design. It features three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, a PCIe 2.0 x1 slot, a mini PCIe slot and a single legacy PCI slot. As far as connectivity goes you have eight SATA 6GB/s ports, four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, DVI, VGA, 8-channel HD audio and Gigabit Ethernet.

The B85M is more of an entry level board and has a micro-ATX form factor. Here you have a single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, single PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 electrical) and two legacy PCI slots. Instead of 4 DDR3 slots, you only get 4 on this board.

It is important to note that these are just prototype boards and the features and color scheme have not been finalized.

About 10 years of computer experience. Been messing around with electronics since I was 5, got into computers when I was in highschool, been modding them ever since then. Very interested in how things work and their design.
