ASRock Launches Its First Router, The G10 Gaming Router

ASRock has launched its Gaming line and it will not only be for gaming motherboards. The company also released a gaming router under the brand, which happens to be the first router from ASRock. The G10 Gaming Router has a very unique unique design as you can see from the photos, but it is not all looks, it has many great features!

The G10 is an AC2600, dual band, 4T4R 802.11ac router. It has support for Qualcomm’s MU-MIMO solution as well. The dual-band WiFi is powered by Qualcomm’s QCA9980 chip and the Ethernet on the router is powered by the QCA8337 chip. On the rear of the unit you will find buttons for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, a WAN port, two USB 3.0 ports, reset button, on / off switch and power button.

The router is designed to automatically recognize the packets of game applications, by priority it is possible to ensure the appropriate network bandwidth for that game. The two USB 3.0 ports on the device can be used to add storage and connect other devices like printers.

One of the more interesting parts of the router is the integrated HDMI dongle and Travel router / AP. It sits in the back of the router, but can be removed when you want to use it.

From what we understand the HDMI dongle can be used much like a Chromecast, where you can transmit video from a device to your TV with ease. We assume that it will work with both wired and wireless devices that are connected to the router. The small device also acts as a travel router / wireless AP. So you are able to use it to share an internet connection say at a hotel. The small device has an HDMI connection on one side and an Enthernet port and microUSB port on the other side.

The router also has a very cool function to act as a universal remote. There and infrared transmitters on the front and rear of the routers. The way this works is that there is a smartphone app that you can download and the router can learn the codes of the infrared devices in your house (TV, Cable box, Xbox, etc) and you can control these devices via your smartphone easily. No looking around for every remote! You can also access the infrared controls while you are not at home, so you can say turn on the air conditioning before you return home.

ASRock G10 Gaming Router

This has to be one of the most feature-rich routers that we have seen, and the universal remote and travel AP / HDMI dongle are nice additions. The G10 is expected to be released in July and should have a street price of around $250.
