AMD Vega 10 GPU Name Confirmed By Bethesda

Well it really was no secret, but it looks like Bethesda has confirmed it. AMD’s upcoming Vega 10 GPU will be named the Radeon RX 490 and will feature 8GB of graphics memory. Bethesda announced that it will release a new HD texture pack for the PC version of Fallout 4. In this announcement Bethesda revealed the recommended system requirements and there it was listed!

As you can see under the recommended PC Specs we have:

– Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
– Intel Core i7-5820K or better
– GTX 1080 8GB/AMD Radeon RX 490 8GB
– 8GB+ Ram

Also SK Hynix has released a new HBM2 specification document. This document confirms HBM2 specifications and availability of 4 gigabyte (32 Gbit) HBM2 stacks for Q1 of 2017. If you take a look at the photo below of the Vega GPU you can see two HBM2 stacks. So Radeon “Vega” or RX 490 does indeed have 2x 4GB HBM2 stacks, giving you 8GB of total memory.

The document also lists SK Hynix H5VR32ESM4H-H1K at 1.60 Gbps (per pin), with a cumulative bandwidth of 205 GB/s per stack. So if you double that (for 2 stacks) you would have 410 GB/s of memory bandwidth, if AMD sticks to the reference clock on this memory.
