AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper 1950X Overclocked To 4.1 GHz!

It looks like the ThreadRipper overclocking has started! Reddit user “callingthewolf” who has gotten their hands on a Ryzen ThreadRipper 1950X decided to do some overclocking and achieved some really great results. He was able to take the chip from its base clock of 3.4 GHz and bring it up to 4.0 GHz (@ 1.25 Vcore) and 4.1 GHz (@ 1.4 Vcore). That is on all 16 cores!

This overclock was actually not done under LN2 or anything crazy like that, just a simple Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate liquid cooler! The rest of the setup was made up of a non-specified ASRock motherboard and 8 x 8 GB 3066 MHz DDR4.

At 4.0 GHz the Threadripper 1950X achieves a score of 3337 on Cinebench R15. Then at 4.1 GHz it achieves a score of 58391 points in Geekbench 3! These scores are very impressive! And this shows that Ryzen ThreadRipper 16-core chips overclock quite well and can do so under pretty normal cooling solutions. Can’t wait to see more ThreadRipper overclocks once more people get their hands on these chips.
