AMD Reveals First 3 Ryzen Processor & New Radeon Logo

At a press event held by AMD, company CEO Lisa Su unveiled the first three AMD Ryzen desktop processor models. These include the flagship Ryzen 7-1800X, Ryzen 7-1700X, and the Ryzen 7-1700. Looking at prices first the Ryzen 7-1800X will be $499, the Ryzen 7-1700X will be $399, and the Ryzen 7-1700 will be $329. These three chips will be available for purchase on March 2nd, 2017.

Now for the official clock speeds. The Ryzen 7-1800X is clocked at 3.6 GHz and boosts up to 4.0 GHz. It does feature XFR (extended frequency range) which will overclock the chip further depending on your cooling setup.

The Ryzen 7-1700X has a clock speed of 3.4 GHz and boost up to 3.8 GHz. It also has the XFR feature to extend clocks even more with proper cooling.

Finally we have the Ryzen 7 1700 which is clocked at 3.0 GHz and boosts up to 3.7 GHz. It does not have the XFR feature.

All three of these chips are true 8-core chips with 512KB of dedicated L2 cache per core, and 16MB of shared L3 cahce. They feature dual-channel memory controllers and have a integrated PCI-Express 3.0 root complex. The 1800X and 1700X have TDP’s of 95W and the 1700 has a TDP of just 65W.

At the event, CEO Lisa Su stated that at $499, the Ryzen 7-1800X “smokes” the Intel Core i7-6900K $1050 eight-core processor. Finally we got to see the new Radeon Vega logo.
