AMD Radeon R9 Nano is 30% Faster Than The GTX 970

It is a day before the release of the AMD Radeon R9 Nano and more information has been released on the card. We now know that it features the full 4096 stream processors as its more powerful brother the Fury X. That is quite impressive as the TDP of the card is only 175W. We now know that the R9 Nano has better performance than the R9 390X, NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 970, and quite possibly the GTX 980. Since this is a compact card AMD decided to compare it against the GeForce GTX 970 Mini-ITX card. The result was that it was 30% faster!

There of course is no GTX 980 in a compact form factor so AMD decided to use the GTX 970 as a good card to compare it to. With this AMD is calling the Radeon R9 Nano the Fastest Mini-ITX card on the planet! The R9 Nano seems like it is a great response to NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980 / 970 series, but a year late. For those who missed it here are the official specifications of the card.

So its faster than expected, and definitely beats the GTX 970 in terms of performance. It also does this with a TDP of only 175W. The only thing that is left unanswered is the price. Will it be priced aggressively to compete with NVIDIA’s GTX 970 / 980? We will have to see!
