While AMD announced their flagship R9 290X last week at their GPU 14 event it was really unclear what the official specifications of the card were, especially the clock speeds. A source with access to a R9 290X revealed to TechPowerUp not only the clock speeds but also ran many benchmarks with the card.
For those wondering the GPU core is clocked at 1050 MHz. There is no dynamic-overclocking feature, but the card can lower clocks taking load and temperatures into account. The memory is clock at 1125 MHz (4.5 GHz GDDR5-effective). That will give you 288 GB/s of memory bandwidth across the 512-bit interface.
The source ran tests of Aliens vs. Predators, Battlefield 3, Crysis 3, GRID 2, Tomb Raider (2013), RAGE, and TESV: Skyrim, in no-antialiasing, FXAA, and MSAA modes; at 5760 x 1080 pixels resolution. The card was directly put against NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX Titan.
