ADATA’s Next-Generation Solid State Drives Revealed at Computex

ADATA is displaying several next-generation solid state drives at Computex 2014 this week. These new drives are based off the SandForce 3700 Series controllers, which are set to launch in the second half of this year.

ADATA SR1020 SSD

ADATA is showing an M.2 version of their SR1020 solid state drive. Even with the small M.2 form factor this drive will pack 2 TB of storage! The drive is powered by the SandForce SF-3739 which makes use of the PCI-Express 2.0 x4 lanes to provide up to 2 GB/s of peak bandwidth. ADATA has said this drive will hit sequential speeds of up to 1800 MB/s or 1.8 GB/s with random I/O rates as high as 150K IOPS. It was not specified if these were read or write figures. The SR1020 drive is target at the enterprise market.

ADATA SX930 SSD

On the consumer side of things ADATA was showing the SX930 2.5-inch solid state drive. This drive will also make use of a SandForce SF-3700 series controller, but is bound by the SATA 6Gbps interface. It will have sequential read and write speeds of 555 MB/s with random write throughput at 100K IOPS.

Both drives will be released later this year.
