ADATA DashDrive Air AE400 Review

Final Thoughts
After spending the last week with the DashDrive Air AE400 it is something that I believe everyone should have in their mobile arsenal.  Wireless hard drives are nothing new, we have seen many of them before, but the AE400 is a wireless reader.  This means you can add storage to it via a SD card or USB storage device.  This means are you not limited to a certain capacity and you are able to swap out storage devices if need be.

So you have installed your SD card in the AE400 so what can you do with it?  If you are using an Android or iOS device you can download ADATA’s free DashDrive Air Elite app.  Through this app you can view, download and stream media from the AE400 directly to your device.  This is great for mobile devices as they only have a limited storage capacity.  You are also able to upload files from your device to the AE400.  So if you are running out of space on your device you can upload files to make more room.

Since most people are going to be using the AE400 with a mobile device ADATA has included the power bank feature.  The AE400 has a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery inside.  This not only powers the AE400 but it also allows you to charge your mobile devices.  As long as your device can be charged via USB you are good to go.

The AE400 has the ability to share an internet connection with up to 10 devices.  This is great for a few different reasons.  The first being if you are connected to the AE400 and are streaming or downloading files you still have access to the internet.  Also if you are traveling the ability to share an internet connection is a huge plus.  You can connect to the WiFi using the AE400 and then share that connection with all of your devices or people that are staying with you.  This not only makes things easier it also makes it so you don’t have to pay for internet access on each device.

While ADATA has catered the AE400 for use with mobile devices you can do everything with a normal PC as long as it has a WiFi connection.  You can also use the AE400 as a normal SD card reader.

In my laptop bag I have a wireless hard drive, card reader, travel router and portable battery charger.  All of those have been replaced by a single device, the ADATA DashDrive Air AE400!  It does everything all of those devices do combined!  There really is nothing I can say bad about the AE400.  The AE400 has an MSRP of $79.99 which when you consider it replaces 4 devices it is definitely worth it.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA DashDrive Air AE400 a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
