The introduction of Zalman’s USB 3.0 HDD docking station is great news for hobbyists and professionals alike, with Zalman’s USB 3.0 HDD docking solution having to worry about transfer speeds of an external drive are a thing of past. You can now have lightning fast data transfer limited basically by only your hard drive solutions, instead of data interface technology. For a number of people this means no longer having to worry about whether you want to go through the effort to actually install a drive in order to get faster speeds. With the Zalman solution you can get the speed of an internal connection along with the ability of HDD swapping/RAID without the installation hassle.
There are a few things that set the ZM-MH200 U3 apart from other USB 3.0 hard drive docking stations. The first is that it supports 2 drives not just 1. This makes it easy to swap out drives and transfer files between 2 separate drives. Since this is a 2 drive docking station it also supports RAID, which is a nice feature. Finally this docking station is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 so you can use it with pretty much any system, not just systems that have USB 3.0 support.
Right now the ZM-MH200 U3 sells for $79 at my favorite online retailer. This put it above some other USB 3.0 docking stations, but keep it mind this docking station fits 2 hard drives and supports RAID. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Zalman ZM-MH200 U3 USB 3.0 Dual HDD Docking Station a 9 out of 10 score.
