Zalman ZM-K700M Gaming Keyboard Review

Lighting & Usage
I have to say one of my favorite things about this keyboard is it illumination. As I mentioned earlier each key is individually illuminated with a white LED and with them turned all the way up they are quite bright.

The keys don’t just light up though, there are many different modes to play with on this keyboard. The big difference here is that switching the modes and setting things up is all done on the keyboard itself, not with software. While this might be a pain for some people it is pretty easy. To help you out we’ve made a video showing you how to change lighting modes and of course showing them off.

Another really cool thing about the lighting is the light bar on the side of the keyboard. It will actually show your typing speed in real time, which is pretty cool!

Now I have been using the ZM-K700M for a few weeks as my main keyboard and it has been quite the pleasant experience. Since it has been my main keyboard this means I have not only been gaming on it, but also doing all of my typing and daily tasks. The first thing that I noticed right off the bat is that the keyboard is very easy to type on, this is thanks to the Cherry MX Red key switches. These switches are linear and have an actuation force of 45g, compared to the 50g of Blues and 60g of Blacks.

Besides just typing on the keyboard I did my fair share of gaming in the past couple of weeks. Because of its weight the ZM-K700M has a very solid feel. That matched with the Cherry MX Red key switches gives you a great gaming experience. You know everyone of your keys is going to be registered and you are able to move your fingers across the keys quite easily. So if you are doing any fast-paced gaming this is the keyboard for you.

While I am used to a software interface for setting up and recording macros they were easy enough to figure out on this keyboard. Having macros is vitally important for certain types of games.
