Way ahead of their expected Q1-2017 launch that will coincide with Intel’s 7th Generation Core “Kaby Lake” processors, two box shots of upcoming motherboards based on the Z270 Express chipset have been taken. These boards appear to be the ASRock Z270 Gaming K6, and the ASRock Z270 Pro 4. Like the previous generation (Z170) the Z270 Gaming K6 would be the premium offering, while the Pro4 would be a more mainstream offering.
The Z270 chipset will be Intel’s second chipset based on the LGA1151 socket. The Z270 platform will be compatible with the upcoming 7th Generation Core “Kaby Lake” processors as well as the existing 6th Generation Core “Skylake” processors. Existing 100-series motherboards will also be compatible with “Kaby Lake” processors with a simple BIOS update.
