ThinkComputers Holiday 2014 Staff Wish List

It is that time of year again, Holidays! We always ask our families for things we would like each year, but we don’t always get them. The staff here at ThinkComputers has compiled a list of products they would like this year for the Holiday. Even though we get the oppurtunity to review some pretty awesome products there are still some things we would like. Check out our wish lists for this year!

Well as always I really do not need that much as far as computer hardware goes, but I can always use some new gadgets and other electronics.

Canon XA10 Professional Camcorder (Amazon)
Canon XA10 Professional Camcorder

I have been using the same camcorder to shoot the unboxing videos here at ThinkComputers for a couple of years now and an upgrade is needed. I have been looking at the Canon XA10 for a while now and it is definitely a bump up from the Canon HF R500 that I have been using. The camcorder also offers full manual control, which is nice.

Dell UltraSharp U3415W 34-inch Curved Monitor (Dell)
Dell U3415W

When I first heard of this monitor it was instantly on my want list! I actually want a setup with two of these monitors! The Dell UltraSharp U3415W is a 34-inch screen with a 21:9 ultra-wide curved screen that offers more display area and enhanced viewing comfort. The display has a native resolution of 3440 X 1440 at 60Hz. The IPS panel has a grey to grey response time of 8ms with a boost mode to 5ms. The display also has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles and 1.07b color depth. The screen has a standard color gamut of 99% sRGB coverage. You also have the ability to connect your smartphone or tablet to the display using the mini-Displayport. The stand on the display offers height, swivel and tilt adjustments, but due to the shape of the display there is not any screen rotation. So yeah two if these will be pretty nice, a good upgrade to my two ASUS 24-inch displays I am using now.

NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router (Amazon)
NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router

I have been needing to upgrade my home network for sometime now. I have been using a $35 TRENDnet router and lets just say you get what you pay for. Ever since it was released I have been hearing great things about Netgear’s Nighthawk X6 AC3200 router. First of all just look at it, it looks badass! This router has some of the fastest wireless speeds available at 3.2Gbps and tri-band WiFi. As you can see there are six antennas and there are also amplifiers to get some very impressive range as well. This will definitely allow me to easily stream from multiple devices without any issues.

Samsung UN65H8000 Curved 65-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D Smart LED TV (Amazon)
Samsung UN65H8000

I have had the same TV for quite a long time. It is a Sharp Aquos 42-inch 1080p and I bought it when they first came out. Honestly there is nothing wrong with the TV, but all of the new TVs coming out lately really make me want to upgrade my home theater. I have become very fond of Samsung’s TV offerings, especially their newer Curved TVs. The UN65H8000 is a 65-inch 1080p Curved 3D LED TV. So you know the picture is going to look great! Also this TV has 4 HDMI inputs rather than the two that are on my Sharp. This will definitely be a nice upgrade!

Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G3-G Microphone Kit System (Amazon)
Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G3

We use wired microphones here for all of the videos and live coverage we do. Having a wireless setup would be so much better as we would not have to worry about wires getting in the way. After doing some research the kit that I really like is the Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G3, which includes a bodypack transmitter with lav mic and receiver which would be perfect for doing our unboxing videos and other single-shot videos. The kit also includes the SKP 100 G3 plug-on transmitter which plugs into the bottom of any XLR microphone turning it into a wireless microphone. This would be perfect for covering live events and doing interviews.
