Final Thoughts
This is an extremely useful device; I’m surprised I haven’t seen more 2.5-inch devices like this with solid state drives becoming more affordable.  As I said earlier in the review many cases don’t have spaces for 2.5-inch hard drives only select new cases do so adding the Max 4 is simple and gives you room for 2 2.5-inch hard drives not just one.

Installation of the Max 4 is so simple and as long as you have an open 3.5-inch external drive bay you are good to go.  The drives slide in without any mounting hardware needed so it makes it really easy to swap drives in and out.  The drive doors are really easy to operate and are strong enough so they won’t pull off if you put pressure on them.

There really is nothing I can say bad about the Max 4, it makes it easy to install 2.5-inch drives in your system.  I will most likely be using the Max 4 to test solid state drive from now on because it makes it so easy.  Right now the Max 4 sells for around $40, which is about $10 more than I would expect to pay for something like this, but still isn’t a bad price.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the Thermaltake Max 4 2.5-inch Hard Drive Rack a 9 out of 10 score.

Pros:
- Easy to install
- Tool-less hard drive installation
- Solid design

Cons:
- A little more expensive than expected

I think something like this would be very beneficial to me. Too many times have I had customers bring their crashed laptops to me and want their pictures and videos removed. If I had something like this I wouldn't have to bother with placeing the HDD in and external enclosure and hooking it up via USB to my main PC. I could just pop it out of the bottom of the laptop and right into the HDD bay on my PC. This would also be awesome for large file transfers to my media center. 500gb of data over USB or 100mb ethernet is pretty terrible.
