Thermaltake Max 4 2.5-inch Hard Drive Rack Review

Max 4 Overview
The Max 4 is designed to fit in an open 3.5-inch external drive bay.  Many cases do not even have those anymore, so make sure your case does before you purchase the Max 4.

On the front of the device are 2 doors.  Each door has a small silver button latch on it that will easily open the door up.  Also there are 2 LED’s on the front to let you know the hard drives are active.  For such a small device Thermaltake has still made it look very attractive.

On the inside of the Max 4 are 2 2.5-inch drive bays that will fit small SATA hard drives.  These are perfect for solid state drives.  At the back of each bay is your typical SATA data and power connections.

When you open each bay door up it swings up so you can easily slide your drives in.  On the back of the device are your power and SATA connections.  Besides the SATA power connection there is also a 4pin power connection on the back.  This is why Thermaltake has provided special power connectors.

  1. I think something like this would be very beneficial to me. Too many times have I had customers bring their crashed laptops to me and want their pictures and videos removed. If I had something like this I wouldn't have to bother with placeing the HDD in and external enclosure and hooking it up via USB to my main PC. I could just pop it out of the bottom of the laptop and right into the HDD bay on my PC. This would also be awesome for large file transfers to my media center. 500gb of data over USB or 100mb ethernet is pretty terrible.
