NVIDIA today announces the GeForce GTX 950 graphics card, which is the companies latest entry-level graphics card that is targeted at sub-$500 gaming PC builds. The card is designed to offer good gaming at 1600 x 900 and 1920 x 1080 (moderate-high details) resolutions. The GTX 950 will officially succeed the GTX 750 Ti and will be priced at $159.99.
According to a report from Hermitage Akihabara the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 will launch on August 20th, that is this Thursday! The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 will be NVIDIA’s entry-level discrete graphics card effectively replacing the GeForce GTX 750 Ti. In related news the official specifications of the card have been confirmed as well.

It has been reported that AMD is putting their final touches on the Radeon R7 370X, which will directly compete with NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce GTX 950. The R7 370X will make use of the “Trinidad XT” silicon and will fully utilize the chip.
The possible specifications of NVIDIA’s upcoming entry-level GeForce GTX 950 have been listed online. This card has been designed to succeed the GeForce GTX 750 Ti and will compete with the Radeon R7 370. It will be based on the same GM206 silicon that powers the GeForce GTX 960, but it will have a quarter of its CUDA cores disabled.

When AMD announced the R9 Nano we first heard “later this summer”, and then during AMD’s quarterly conference call AMD CEO Lisa Su told investors that “we will be launching Nano in the August timeframe”. Now it has been reported that the AMD Radeon R9 Nano has started shipping to retailers and even more is that a Korean Blog has their hands on a card already.
Sapphire is AMD’s larger board partner so as expected that have a pretty nice selection of AMD’s 300 series graphics cards. Sitting at the top of the 300 series is the Radeon R9 390X. This is of course a rebrand of AMD’s previous R9 290X, but with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. Also the rebrand has given AMD time to fine-tune the chip and add new features. This card is 100% DirectX 12 compliant and has AMD specific features like FreeSync, Super Virtual Resolution, and Eyefinity. Sapphire’s take on the card brings with it their Tri-X cooling solution that uses Intelligent Fan Control II technology that will turn the fans off when the GPU is not running hot and a massive 10mm heatpipe to keep things cool, 16K hours capacitors to lengthen the lifespan of the card, a dual BIOS, and the card is of course factory overclocked.
