One of the largest companies at CES 2013, Samsung took the liberty to demo some of the hottest products coming to market and currently dominating the world of electronic sales. The ‘Series 7 Gamer’ took the award of ‘Best Laptop of CES 2012′ and this year Samsung showed us the follow up to that outstanding product with the Series 7 Chronos. Qualifying as an Ultrabook in every criteria except the processor, this desktop replacement laptop will physically amaze you, aesthetically and with its hardware. We also took the liberty to overview some of the more prominent products for which Samsung is known. Check out the video for more details.
We already covered what MSI was showing at CES in their motherboard and video card lines, but they also were showing full system solutions in laptops and tablets. MSI offers a wide variety of gaming laptops that will give you the performance you need while you are on the go. Many of these gaming laptops feature Killer Double Shot networking and SteelSeries backlit keyboards. The highlight for me was the Slidebook S20 convertible Ultrabook. It is essentially a tablet with a slide out keyboard, but will still allow you to be productive on the road. I looks like 2013 is going to be a good year for MSI!
Lenovo today announced two new additions to its family of convertible laptop-tablet devices: the ThinkPad Helix, a premium convertible for business professionals featuring a “rip and flip” design – a blueprint for the next generation of laptop designs – and a more powerful and productive IdeaPad Yoga 11S, the first multimode mini Ultrabook equipped with powerful Intel processors and featuring Windows 8.

GIGABYTE, a rising brand in the notebook industry, launched an array of notebooks and a tablet with fabulous functions and powerful specifications. Each GIGABYTE model is highlighted by the number of ports that is available to give the user complete convenience, sleek innovative design, and Global warranty for a complete peace of mind. By launching a slate S1082, a Convertible Ultrabook U2142, a high performance Ultrabook U2442, and two high-end Gaming Notebooks – P2542/P2742; GIGABYTE has expanded its line and range of notebooks.
So the next big concern coming down the aisle for Ultrabooks may be simpler than CPU, RAM, hard-drives, and networking, it will concern what material to use. It seems much of the aluminum chassis needed to produce the popular magnesium-aluminum alloy for these devices is in short supply (with Apple having formed rock solid alliances with the two major alloy vendors) and manufacturers like Acer, Asus and HP are considering using fiberglass. Acer has already announced plans for a 15-inch fiberglass-encased notepad in 2012.
ASUS has quite a few announcements today as IFA Berlin approaches. Some of the new products that caught our eye are the ASUS Zenbook U500VZ, which is a slim ultra-portable featuring Intel Core i7 quad-core processors and NVIDIA GT650M graphics, the Zenbook Prime UX21A Touch, which is the first Zenbook with a multi-touch display. ASUS was also showing off the Taichi, an ultra-portable with a double-sided display and the Transformer Book, the world’s first convertible notebook. We have the scoop on all of these new products, read on to check them out!
