French storage giant LaCie teamed up with French silversmith Christofle to produce a limited edition, hand crafted external USB 3.0 storage device called the Sphere. This spherical object weighs a few pounds and houses a 1 TB, bus-powered, 2.5″ hard drive.
LaCie and designer Constance Guisset designed the Culbuto, a 16 GB USB3 flash drive with a balled end. “Culbuto” means “rolly polly” in French, and is basically the French concept of a Weeble.

Samsung has introduced a new compact storage solution in their 840 EVO mSATA solid state drive. The 840 EVO solid state drive makes use of 128 gigabit 1x-nm NAND flash memory, and Samsung’s in-house controller with TurboWrite technology.
