OCZ has had their ups and downs over this past year as we explained in our review of their brand new Vector solid state drive. This year at CES OCZ is really only announcing one consumer product, which is the Vector PCIe Solid State drive. If you remember OCZ’s Revo drives this is the same type of drive except it is based on the new Barefoot 3 controller that we saw in the new Vector drive. Read on to check it out!
This is officially the first consumer solid state drive from OCZ that is using the new Barefoot 3 controller. This new controller is designed completely in-house by OCZ. OCZ is touting this new drive as the standard for performance users and it offers sequential read and write speeds of 550MB/s and 530MB/s respectively. The Vector is available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB versions and OCZ is backing it with a 5 year warranty. Will this be the drive that saves OCZ and puts them back on track or is the the last ditch effort of a dying company? Time will only tell.
Solid State Drives are becoming the more cost effective upgrade to the traditional home computer. Adding a solid state drive will speed up Windows boot up time, will allow your applications to load faster and make data transfers much easier. Today we are taking a look at Kingston’s latest solid state drive, the SSDNow V300. This drive boasts sequential read and write speeds of 450MB/s, which is about 7-10 times faster than your traditional hard drive. The V300 is also Kingston’s first drive to use Toshiba’s 19nm NAND flash memory. Kingston is aiming the V300 at consumers who want to get the most for their money. Read on as we take a look…
