As many of you known OCZ’s assets were acquired by Toshiba. With that we were unsure if the OCZ name would stay around, but Toshiba is keeping OCZ around. To start off 2014 OCZ will be launching the Vertex 460 2.5-inch solid state drive very soon.
Over the past year we have seen storage get smaller and smaller, but now ADATA is introducing their XU41 or Mini solid state drive. This is one of the smallest implementations of a full solid state drive that we have seen.
Last year we took a look at a very sexy external hard drive from ADATA. The DashDrive Elite HE720 was a great external hard drive, but it was limited by the mechanical hard drive that was inside of it. Well ADATA is back with the DashDrive Elite SE720, which looks almost identical to the HE720, but what’s under the hood is completely different. This time with the SE720 ADATA has packed it with a 128 GB solid state drive. That means you will not be limited by the hard drive that is inside and this will be one of the fastest external drives we have ever tested! How fast? Read on to find out!
Samsung has introduced a new compact storage solution in their 840 EVO mSATA solid state drive. The 840 EVO solid state drive makes use of 128 gigabit 1x-nm NAND flash memory, and Samsung’s in-house controller with TurboWrite technology. The 840 EVO is capable of sequential read and write speeds of 540/520 MB/s and 98,000 random read and 90,000 random write IOPS.
OCZ Technology Group, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance solid state drives (SSDs) for computing devices and systems, today announced that the Company has signed an asset purchase agreement with Toshiba Corporation, a global technology leader and manufacturer of NAND flash memory, to acquire substantially all of OCZ’s assets in a chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding for $35M.
Crucial has informed us that they are having some pretty good deals on their SSD’s right now! Not only will you get the awesome prices on Crucial’s M500 solid state drives, but also if you buy any DRAM or SSD upgrade through Crucial you will get a 32 GB flash drive for free.
OCZ has announced their new Vector 150 SATA III SSD Series. This series makes use of the latest cutting-edge 19nm NAND flash process and an in-house Barefoot 3 controller design. This makes the Vector 150 OCZ’s highest performing SATA III solid state drive series to date.
Akitio is proud to announce that it is the receiver of the certification of the first 512 GB fully bus powered Thunderbolt storage. This 512 GB model has become part of the already vast portfolio of the company which consists of the storage series. This is most likely to complement all other storage series as well and it has been confirmed that it has the ability to touch the read speeds of 520 MB/s on bus power.
OCZ’s Vertex line of solid state drives have been around for a while and we have reviewed many different Vertex drives over the past few years. If you remember back in 2011 OCZ acquired Indilinx and with the acquisition they were able to create an SSD controller completely in-house. The controller was the Barefoot 3 and it was featured on OCZ’s Vector solid state drive that we reviewed earlier this year. Well OCZ is back with a new drive in their Vertex 450. It will feature the same Barefoot 3 controller, and new 20nm MLC NAND instead of the 25nm that was being used on the Vector. Today we are taking a look at the 128GB version of the Vertex 450 that features sequential read and write speeds of 525 MB/s and 290 MB/s respectively. Not only that OCZ has sent us two drives so we can show you just how fast these drives are when put in a RAID array together. Read on as we take a look…
